Normal Maps in Photoshop?

NVidia Photoshop Plugin

NVidia Photoshop Plugin

Heck yeah! Turns out, NVidia – the graphics card company, has a developer zone where people from NVidia develop stuff for games and other softwares. One good thing that came out of it was the NVIDIA Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop. This plugin enables you to turn your regular pictures into crazy normal maps – just like what CrazyBump would do. You can download the plugin here and some tutorials have been provided here and here. The only problem is that it only works on Windows machines so Mac users kinda have to find another alternative.

 Me in 3D?! Inconcievable!

This was done for our Intro to Modelling class where we take a self portrait and exaggerate it to have an organic feel to it. I wanted to create a self portrait showing my “other side” hence the sad face. I had to make the eyes bigger to show more expression and my mouth reduced to a frown – something I don’t ussually do and my nose bigger. People who know me knows that I rarely show a sad face and ussually tries to cheer everybody up.

These are the original models:
